Well the training weekend went well.
Here's some footage of me slipping on the first gybe with the kite up!

Looks like you need a spi halyard trip line led to the gunwhale. Pull string whilst standing on plate, lifts s/s curtain ring on aft side of twinlock to flick cleat open, pressure goes out of kite and up she comes easy as pie.

Bonus is that you are not faffing in boat, so inversion far less likely, although if I invert at FPSC in 2m of water something else has gone badly wrong!

Clive

I just rigged one of these trip lines, but haven't had to use it an anger yet.  Do you have any pics Clive?

Hopefully here is a pic for you. Key bit is that the curtain ring, seen on the left, hard against the rear end of the twinlock is pulled forwards as well as up - otherwise it will not trip the cleat. On te 100, I've used the mainsheet turret for this, then route the line to the gunwhale. If you cannot do that on a D1, I'd put another ring in front of the cleat and use that for ensuring a pull actually trips the halyard

Keen to see pic of this Trip system, but not sure it's really necessary.  When I go in the first thing I do is to get the kite down pdq.  I then stand on the boom and step over onto the CB.  If the halliard was tripped and the kite all over the place it would be a real pain to get it back in the chute.

It does sound a bit too bimble-tastic Clive.....not something we need to do too much of. Big smile
The video shows the possibilty of righting the boat with kite up, without having to drop it first. (although I admit I don't make it look too graceful)
I actually managed to do it in Garda as well in a pretty big breeze....I think it's because of the stayless mast it makes things a lot easier.
Show me the piccy though please.

There is an “On the Water Day” at Datchet this Saturday.  I will be there with the D-One.  So just come along and jump on board!

See you there.

Rutland Spring Regatta 29-30 May

I'm going up there that weekend to give a few people a go in the D-One.  This looks like a good event.  Does anybody else fancy coming along?  What about you RS 100 chaps as well?
