Thats my point we have a boat which loves W/L racing (and with recent aditionsis pretty much designed for that type of racing) and Grafham wont let it race on a W/L course, its mental!!

New and at the price of a good s/h fiveO!

Watch this space and the 'soon to be revamped' website!

We expect as many or more AltOs than 5o5s at 2011 'big events' and, two of any class in a club, is a fleet these days!

Thats very true, although i am not sure the larger numbers at a handicap event means anything really.  The 505 fleet has congregated at Draycote for the Winter, so no real point in them travelling i suppose.  We love doing the Winter handicap events, so we will be doing the rounds. We couldn't afford an Alto, that doesn't mean they are not good value.

SB are we allowed to reduce the handicap of the boat to be able to compete in a different fleet?

I though The GP was excluded as last year and Hoo Ness was in if it went ahead.  I am sure you would get a better turn out if People knew the events were linked like last year.  I for one will be begging for a day pass, when I must admit I would not have bothered this year because of the distance.
Do you know when this might be confirmed? Is it not advertised due to finalisation or is it that I have missed the adverts?

Cheers Simon

Hi yes I was speaking to Andy Rice yesterday and the publicity for the Global Warm-up series will kick off on 1 December and the Grafham Grand Prix will be in it (as in my previous posting)
Cheers

Please can you clarify which course slower asymmetric dinghies will sail on?

The RS100 rates at 1005 for the rig I sail, this is outside the parameters of your asymmetric fleet; but like Russ above, I've no interest in travelling for a trapezoid course.

Hi James,
We had picked up on the issue of slower asymmetrics and a revised NOR is soon to be published.
Watch this space.

Bob
Here is the revised NoR

The Grafham Grand Prix NOR has changed again. The races will now be sailed back to back and it is now officially part of the SAILJUICE GLOBAL WARM-UP

This year, the Grand Prix also forms Round 1 of the SailJuice Global Warm-Up. The Warm-Up brings together four of the biggest winter handicap racing events into a unified series, with its own generous prizes. The four events of the Series are the Grafham Grand Prix, the Bloody Mary, the Steve Nicholson Trophy at Northampton Sailing Club and the John Merricks Tiger Trophy at Rutland.

RACE FORMAT

We had intended to follow the customary Grand Prix format of two races with a break for lunch: however, our crustacean friends have interfered with these plans and, in order to ensure that there is time to hose down visiting boats before we run out of daylight, we’ve decided that the two races should run back-to-back. As usual, the first race is scheduled for 11.00 but, because of the need to ‘de-shrimp’ visiting boats, in the event of postponement, no warning signal will be made after 13.30.

GRAND PRIX PRIZES

There will be prizes for each of the four handicap fleets (Fast Asymmetrics / Fast Cats, Medium Handicap / Slow Cats, Slow Handicap and Singlehanders) and separately for any class with more than eight entries.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Click on Notice of Race and Entry form for the information. Pre-entry is obligatory, with a closing date of December 30th (not December 23rd as previously advertised!), so get those forms filled in and help to make the 30th GGP one to remember.

Smile Very happy with b2b racing.  The lunch break just means I get cold.  Last year at the GGP I actually changed into completely fresh sailing kit at lunchtime as sitting in the warm with cold wet kit on means I freeze when I go back out.

Anyone know if the sail juice series will have a discard this year?  Can't make the bloody mary as working at the boat show.
