Is it only me that noted the irony of a D1 salesman posting pics of his own boat on a string entitled 'Design Failures'?

....in response to a derogatory comment in a thread that gives ample opportunity to restart a pointless arguement???

Personally, I'd have let the comment wash... as BOABS said, there's a sense
of irony there and if I were marketing boats, I'd avoid commenting on
threads like this like the plague.

I agree with part of your comment there tim,,,,,, i made no derogatory comment,  it was my opinion which i can express on this PUBLIC forum.

The reason i made it was due to MY opinion of the looks of the D1 and the moth.
Based on the boats as boats i would still prefer the moth....

fair comments both.

However the D-One is not a design failure!

You are allowed to have a personal preference, which you have described.

Perhaps derogatory was the wrong word to use.

no, I think you'll find that "prize" currently being cherished by a grumpy swiss bloke who is now the proud owner of two very large hulls + 1 set of spars worth of carbon fibre and some very big, very american (ahem swiss) 3DL sails, all of which it turns out are no match at all for three hulls worth + 1 very big set of over grown spars worht of carbon....

Sails which have are now being turned into tents for Haiti! As well as 65 boxes of team branded kit being sent too. May not be a design failure after all.

1) first bi-foiler in the US
2) first successfull use of a square top jib with adjustable upper outhaul.
3) first US bi-foiler(and maybe world) with retractable hydrofoils(way before RS600FF).
4) first US bi-foiler with manual altitude control.
5) first bi-foiler anywhere with manual altitude control of the main foil flap.
6) first bi-foiler with adjustable angle of incidence main and rudder foils WHILE SAILING.
7) hull and foils designed for JUMPING the boat intentionally with reliable safe re-entry.
8) first bi-foiler in US to experiment with partial span flap equipped foils.

B)DOWNSIDE:
1) poor bow design for low windspeed takeoff
================
Same rig and foils to be used experimentally on new Trapwing Prototype. Same HULL being used to build prototype as well with the mods in the pix below.
Frump, where did you get permission to use my picture???
