What build is this? I would say this is something the Boyer would build. |

I honestly belive the winning teams could win in any of the boats mentioned, they are all so close there is only personal choices to be taken into consideration. What I do find hard to believe is the worlds largerst manufacture of beach cats has built a boat that is falling apart/spliting. Where is this information coming from & can it be substantiated. All the car forums would be on fire if Lotus made such a boob, but not much to back this up I'm afraid. The one Wildcat in the UK seams to be as quick if not quicker than the other F18s. I also wonder how many boats get built & sold for 12k ! (which goes to 14 with the race package) I thought these were race boats, so selling them not ready to race seams bonkers. The fact you struggle to contact the manufacture says something. If you are not going to be at the front of the fleet competing I would seek a good secondhand boat, but there should be 50 ex Wildcat owners looking for these so they will be at a premium |

have no idea where the info on the wildcat started or if its true but lots of new boats have teething problems you would have to be pretty naive to think they would be perfect straight away. Your comparison to the car industry is also not a good one pretty much every new design car has recalls, they dont often get it right first time despite spending millions developing new cars.

I own the only Wildcat in the UK, and it is awesome! We have sailed the capricorn and nacra and I have owned 2 Tigers. This boat trumps the lot. Hobie have really made a big effort to get the boat to work well out of the box and they have pulled it off. A massive improvement on the Tiger. The design is the best bit about it, firstly it is the most fun to sail, (forget winning races this is the most important bit) it steers beutifully and it goes upwind like a rocket. We lead a race from start to finish at its first TT the other day against Hugh Style fresh from his Eurocat win, and we literally pulled it out the box and it started winning!! We went on the win another race by the end that is 2 out of 6!! Never would have managed that in my previous boat. Maybe we have all of a sudden got loads better at sailing or maybe the boat is just faster!

So f18 worlds are over what did the results tell you in the end nacra and shockwave tied on points at the top nacra wins buy number of firsts if the leading wildcat hadnt been black flagged in the last race there would have been a three way tie for first place between three different boats (shockwave, wildcat, infusion) Hope waiting for the results before deciding which boat to buy has given you the info you need to make your purchase and start racing. |

I'm sure the results are speaking for themselves but my impression of the Shockwave was 'Built to a budget', true, everything has a marketable price but on F18s and I've owned 2 I would not compromise cost for quality.. I feel in my own opinon this is exactly what the shockwave does. Cheap bits give up... usually when its least convinient..

very harsh assment there yellow streak. the infusions have had there troubles as have the wildcat if you race anything hard with that amount of power in the rig things break its a fact of life. white formular have a proven track record of building good solid cats as have hobie and nacra |

It may be harsh but its my opinion based up on what I've seen. The Shockwave uses what I consider to be substandard fittings for an F18, I can only assume that this is because of cost. Yes its a fact of life that a boat like a F18 will be more at risk of breakages due to the power and rig loading, I'm not saying that other manufacturers boats avoid this, its just as I said in my opinon better to have the best gear on the boat to minimize that potential race loss or worst still RNLI moment.. It is in the end the purchasers choice, and as i am one I reserve the right to my opinon and choice. |
