Plastic cable conduit does bend like that too. The old Laser gorilla tiller had an extension made out of the 25mm conduit covered in a grip. Stiff enough to use but would bend enough that breaking didn't happen when your toe strap broke and you out of the boat backwards

Looks like plastic conduit. Used to use it to single hand a Laser 2. Not the most precise, but didn’t break if I landed on it in a capsize.

 the extension on the gorilla tiller was flexible as you  do say ...  so i agree

I tried 2m of cable conduit as an extension on my Contender once. Only once though....

Got me thinking about using flexi hose, like the stuff inflatable pumps use, with a length of line up the middle pull the line it goes stiff, uncleat it and it'll bend in two.

I assume that the considerably shorter laser one was a thicker guage than normal cable conduit but you never know with those cheapskates
