TT

Now of course I'm just guessing based on the forum contributions ... but you and a few others would have probably tried one by now if you were ever seriously interested.   So my selfish, biased and certain belief is you were not in the demographic that the boat was aimed at - or simpy curious enough to actually don a wetsuit and get in one anyway.  (Even GRF did - I don't agree with everything he says but at least he is prepared to try stuff on the a la carte menu ... )  Lots of others did as well however and we sold a modest number ourselves to get some presence in the market.    Today Cirrus is not involved in producing or supplying the boat despite that early commercial involvement -  Today 'I/we' do not supply the boat having made that deliberate choice very early on for good commercial reasons.  The model is and was always to switch to licensing others who were/are fully competent in both producing them to a consistent and high standard and in possession of the ability to market the finished boat.

Just contact the CA for any more info etc ... pleaseI'm much more worried about the British Moth handicap myself. Wink

Be interesting to see how many points the I14 tumble by if this new wide wing version gets adopted, its already impressively rapid.

The national 18 at 936 is a surprise, its a quick boat in a breexe and that new fat head main they were testing could make it faster in less breeze

the musto class has adopted a great attitude towards the drop, and more should follow this example IMHO.

the national 18 im sure will drop with its current line of development, having raced in and against the new ones in handicap races it is definitely a case for the returns to catch up to the development so long as the clubs return the numbers, but for now it may have a great year at its home clubs.

edit for clarity

Mike- not yet and certainly not at your launch, but as my kids get older maybe.... any interest to date has always been cognisant of the fact 'these things take time' and there's no way I'd waste either yours or my time trying something that far ahead of schedule.  I also thought the Devoti partnership added kudos and credibility, shame that didn't work out either.

That all being said there are plenty of options out there which would probably fit my bill better; if/when I make that investment- a graduate, miracle, N12... even an RS200...  basically a double hander which I can also sail singlehanded for fun/wednesday night racing in light winds inland.  I don't think parent / child multi-use this is the primary target demographic, but it certainly could be a secondary one based on the spec on paper.... in reality, it's probably just a bit too big though, and the owner churn seems relatively high, which doesn't fill me with confidence.

Do the 400 class have some sort of direct debit that deducts 1 PY point every year!? A sort of automated charitable deduction!

It is weird.  RS400 at 943, Merlin Rocket at 983.  I wonder where exactly in the country this gap is actually present?  Are the mass of 400 returns coming from spanking all MR's at open-water venues and large reservoirs because I seriously doubt they are even winning on the water against MRs on rivers, harbours or small lakes.

My club does. The Solos are pretty strong, just a couple of Streakers, but one is pretty reasonable.

Are they pretty even, allowing for CSF? Numbers are suggesting the Streaker might even be judging ahead, which the Streaker guys at the show didn't think likely. Both classes have a deep pool of talent and plenty of returns, though.

We sail Streakers and Solos together and predictably the Streakers get it if its windy and the Solos if it isn't, in fact one lead the race yesterday for much longer than was reasonable would have won if he had sailed the proper course.

Well if the equipment does not change then the only other conclusion is the sailors are getting better ...

Seems us Laser sailors are getting worse  Ouch
