I have lost my sailing Mojo, but fallen in love with other sports. That said, i expect this year to be a great year for me. My daughters Graduate is now looking pretty good and will be pulled out of the garage in March to e fitted out. I am even ordering some new sails (not that it needed it) We will be sailing every weekendd weather dependant, she is looking forward to it so future is looking fairly rosey. I am also looking forward to the D-one citcuit. I wont bother club sailing it, and contrary to what Simon says its a boat that you dont need to sail week in week out to be able to get round a course. I will step up D-One sailing in April/May and probably take some time off in Weymouth to train ahead of the europeans (i have an extra weeks holidy this year thanks to long service)
For me its the endless travelling, packing and unpacking that have killed my love of the sport. I drive so much with work i just cant be bothered. That coupled with the winter handicap races being ruined for me has really neg'd me out. This year i am goign to give it anopther try.

The fact that you need to take a week to train for the euros if you haven't sailed it much kind of support Simon's POV no?
And the fact that you are not club sailing it, but concentrating on the circuit (the same conclusion I had come to with my 100 for the second season) does also not go unnoticed mate. I'm sure they are good boats, but you are quite right the endless packing, unpacking, travelling (on the inside lane at 50) and arriving to find that 3 hours on the motorway heading away from a decent forecast, is reason enough to put some of us off treading in your footsteps. So yes, mojo definitely at an all time low for seeking out 'quality' dinghy racing and with none available in a suitable craft locally, it just makes sense to change directions a little- be that on a board, sailing with kids or scaling back to something like a laser and keeping it cheap and cheerful... but I'm glad you've got the Grad to keep yourself on the water and enjoying sailing in general. Now over to Graeme... any solutions to get him out of the latest lycra obsession- road biking... whatever next? (And cross country running.... purleaaseee, surely no one still goes looking in the woods for a porn stash these days?)

Yes I noticed you'd left your Strava turned on in the car after the ride.. ![]() I'm so SAD today I might have to strap on a head torch and go for a night run in the woods to cheer me up a bit, it's still grey and miserable down here in the normally sunny south east. Will I sail on sunday though, there's a load more wind on the way, but it could be spent by then. |

Blimey, I know it is wet and cold, but you all seem to be trying to out-do each other on how terrible life and sailing is. Its January, ffs, not the end of the world.
Cure? The Lightning 368. Takes 5 minutes to rig (no wings, shrouds, mast sleeves, complex rope threading), can go on a roof rack if you are fed up with speed limits, an open circuit where the people at the other end are nice, friendly, and genuinely pleased to see visitors (even me...) good weight carrier (though I fear genuine Finn sailor material will probably struggle - it is only 12 foot, after all), and actually, fun to sail. All in all, I'm looking forward to sailing on Sunday (assuming the weather isn't too much like the end of the world...) |

Once, on a long distance run, I chanced upon a couple blond slappers hurriedly dressing and a disgruntled snapper (ahem) testing his flash (ahem) pretty much made my month - they were more towards club/Mayfair quality than fiesta too. Highest suicide rates occur generally some time round this time of year - early feb maybe. Having a 3 week long lurgy has made life particularly sh*t for me. Still, keep busy or active enough and there is no opportunity to be depressed. |

I suspect you have found your equivelent in windsurfing (though they take longer to rig) and Luke does sound a little big boned for a Lightning. A Megabyte is the big equivelant, really. |

I wrote out a really witty reply to all this but the it was wiped. I have lost the mojo required to redo it.
Off on hols soon where Mojo sauce is a local favourite. I shall bring some back for James and grumpf. Green or red? |

My record is 6 mins but that includes taking off the cover and wheeling it from my boat space. Takes longer to get the dry suit on! |
