I reckon 1000s.

I think that, as Lasers are generally sailed by folks with little imagination, about 5.

I think they may sell a few hundred at best- then folks will try them, realise there's no racing (certainly nothing in comparison with either moths or lasers) then they'll sell em on, having given their mates a go first, creating yet more people turned off to the concept... But as a bit of fun and fabrication to the guys who did it, cool beans- luv it!

A sweeping generalisation. You might be correct about the people that have sailed nothing else, but many sail them knowing exactly what else is available, have experience of other classes and are prepared to accept its faults because they pale into insignificance compared to the positives.

Looks fun.  Would be even more fun on a V3000 (lighter, faster, modern sails, more grunt)!

I think that RS300s are sailed by folks with big egos who like to be big fish in very small ponds.

Well I think it's a fantastic development and will be massively successful if fully sorted and sold at the right price.
My kids have got a Laser each, and the boy crews for me in the Alto when I'm home. I had considered an old lowrider moth to use when the kids have got events on and I'm crewless (that's crewless, not clueless!) but a beater Laser with this kit just for sh!ts and giggles would be a hoot!

Now, Steve 411, I think we all know who you are. According to L123456 you are a big fish in a small pond...and as for your ego, well I never did!

I'm sure Ian Ward has done a good job on the product, he is a Moth pioneer after all. But the foil set costs $5800 AUS, which is about £3500. That's practically the price of a new Laser, and many times the price of an old one. Bearing in mind the legal games going on between the Aussies and Laser in Europe, it seems unlikely that this will ever be officially sanctioned in Europe, so will invalidate any warranties on new boats and quite possibly break old ones.
