Wow, I thought our lake, (Chipping Norton, NSW) was small, I just looked up Burghfield, on Google Earth, my god, if you were to put all those boats on the water at the club at once, you could walk around the lake, from boat to boat!

Moo, your lake must be a bath tub!

Silly question perhaps chaps, but why dont you sail somewhere a little bigger 15 minutes down the road at Draycote?

we stay at our little club because its very friendly and because of the social side.

there are loads of clubs in the area i would rather go to than draycote, if i ever decide i want more  water to play on.

I think we've had this conversation before on this forum. I was a member for a few years at Draycote back in the 80's but retained membership at MWYC. Never really settled and found myself back sailing at MWYC whenever I could. In the end I drifted back full time and never regretted it.

I guess for me it's more about the people I sail with and not the water I sail on. Too many great memories (and many more in the making I hope) to give it up and interestingly I am not the only "returnee" from Draycote currently amongst our membership.

I digress from the original thread topic. So if I can have an absolute hoot in an RS300 on our puddle when I am not racing the N12 is there any reason to think I couldn't in an ICON? If the PY comes out in the 1020s and 1030s and it goes in light airs and tacks on a sixpence it might be a worthy replacement?

If the 300 is suitable for your lake, I'm sure the Icon would fit in perfectly.

Plus can I just say - 'Cheese before Bedtime'....brilliant name! I used to sail a Cherub when I was a yoof, and the names
were always entertaining.

As were the boats

Carry on...
