There are quite a few A class single handed cats there....I helped one out of the water last week and I nearly fell over backwards, due to over effort.....they are seriously light and seriously tall unarig, reminded me of an A rater.

Shorter mast (top section only) and same kite but masthead.  It's recognised that the standard D-One is great for 68+ Kilos but this is for the 48-68 Kilo sailors.  We had a lady at Valencia weighing 50 Kgs and giving the heavy guys more than a run for their money in the lighter winds but I suspect that in 12 knots plus the standard rig is best for 68 Kgs plus and the new rig works for the lighter helms.

The aforementioned 50 Kg lady below with a standard rig at Valencia.

James,

The new rig D-Ones will race as a separate class and will use a different PY in handicap racing so there is no option for switching the rig, either in a regatta or over a series.  The helms using this rig under 59 Kilos will be able to use the wings in the outboard position.  In practice, in the early days, we can see the two classes sometimes sharing the start line, racing together, but as different classes and with different results.

Kite halyard is the same for both rigs.
