Canoes have found a happy balance between IAC, IC and DC, combining fleets at regattas and establishing PY for the various types relatively straightforward, can't see any reason why the same kind of arrangement wouldn't be possible for 3.7's

That wasn't the case when the RS100 launched with two PYs- it was/is a bit of nightmare.

The bonus here is that it'll hardly be a big impact, to be honest I doubt there will be enough returns to even justify an experimental number for a while- that was certainly the case when the D-One only had a few boats around the country.

It sounds like the ethos is good- if you want a kite fit one, if you don't, don't.  You don't need class rules telling you what you can and can't do, it's your boat, enjoy it!

It could work racing on two PY's etc but really it's not like we will be having 60 boat fleets within the next 2 years realistically, so we may aswell just race as a class and not bother with 2 PY's- everyone do the same thing kite or not.

Apart from the Farr 30/40/45/52 of course, but they aren't dinghies.

Phillip Rhodes in the USA named his 18 and 19 foot dayboats after himself

And does Knud Olson calling his boat the OK count?!
