I don't think she needs a BA - I guess she has quite a following from the rescue boat Wink Wink

One final thing to say, Valencia is lovely at the moment, sea breezes filling in at a very civilised time of day, 30 degrees with ice cold beer, hoping it stays clement for you guys next week!

Final final thing, good luck Tim!!!!! We're all supporting you from Blighty!!!!
30 degrees eh, Don't think I'll bother taking the drysuit then!

Down there by lunchtime Thursday, out for a practice p.m. and in the bar straight after.

It's a real chore this D-One sailing!!

Not just the rescue boat judging by the number of photos of her I received; probably more than of the actual racing Smile Wink

Thanks TT.

I haven't had chance to write about the Alassio event where that "talked about" picture was taken.... great sailing and family venue.

Although I kind of lost the plot on the Sunday to throw a series away at the last minute.

Saturday was looking great after a 2nd and 4th put me 3rd overall, one place in front of Georgio Poggi (ITA olympic Finn sailor) and one place behind Pietro Sibello (ITA Olympic 49er sailor), although I had to beat Agustine Zabalua, and he was lying first overall.
As the wind went to medium and the waves and tide went to maximum, I had trouble keeping focussed and had 2 shocker results after a OCS put me round the pin again in the double points race, only to go on a flyer to nowhere downwind....that was the end of it. Andre Magni and Andre Gancia both crept in after Alassio scores were posted.
I dropped from 1st in the Volvo cup to 4th, but still a good result.
Agustine sailed an absolute blinder that weekend and moved to first place in the series, well deserved.....makes up for Federation week Wink

Now this weekend I am off to the last event in Valencia, where I hope to be more relaxed about it all, and I look forward to sailing my own boat.

bon chance and well done Tim, looks like there's some very hot competition and I'd wager they don't lack for a bit of "local" knowledge either by the sounds of it!  Hug

Valencian October welcomed at the best today the Magic Marine BetPro D-One Gold Cup's fleet. Sun, summer temperatures and a nice seabreeze from 8 to 14 knots took the best from the D-One. Two fantastic races were sailed with lots of fun and tough racing by the 31 helmsmen fleet from 14 countries. This is the first event of the adrenaline-pumping single-handed dinghy designed by UK dinghy master Phil Morrison, tested and developed by Olympic Silver Medallist Luca Devoti, and built by Devoti Sailing managed by Roman Teply. The early winners ot the Championship are Hungarian Zsombor Berecz and Croatian finn sailor Ivan Gaspic. The organization by the world renowned Real Club Nautico de Valencia and Devoti Sailing was perfect. At the end of the day, sailors were welcomed onshore with a marvellous Valencian Paella.
Talking about the day, Luca Devoti said: “Who will win in a couple of days? There are a lot of good guys out there that can win this event. The fleet in very high-talented and I want to
point out that there are sailors in the top positions with
very different weights, ranging from 100 kg like Gaspic or Wright down to Zabalua's 72 kg, all can be competitive in
the D-One
”.
Croatian Ivan Gaspic, top ranked after two races, said: “Today was all about speed, both upwind and downwind. This boat is a perfect idea by Luca Devoti, nice hull and lots of fun”.
Today's races resulted in a very short leaderboard, which suggests a hard fight in the next two days, because the double point score of the last race will keep everything open untill the end. Croation Ivan Gaspic (3-1) took an early lead with a two point advantage over Argentinean Agustin Zabalua (4-2). Third was Hungarian Zsombor Berecz (1-6). British Ed Wright, winner one month ago of the Finn Gold Cup, took the fourth place (6-3). In the fifth there is the first Italian, Andrea Giammarini (5-4). The event resumes tomorrow with two more races.
The event is sponsored by Magic Marine and BetPro.it Betpro.it is a trademark owned by Gaming VC Corporation Ltd., a company that operates in the field of sports betting in Italy. Thanks to its economic strength, Gaming VC offers customers betting packages that boast highly competitive odds supported by a highly qualified customer service team that is able to provide assistance minutes after having sent your request. Magic Marine is supporting the event through its Spanish distributor Katabatic. Regatta partner is Terra Cielo Mare watches.
