Young Jack turfed up on Sunday at Hythe on the Seas, unfortunately I'd committed to helming the Merlin in the meanwhile after inviting all the Redoubt folk down after their lake was close due to some lame fishing contest, I note it rarely if ever gets closed to fishermen if there is a sailing contest, but that's another moan. He however in the Solution gave me a sound thrashing in the Merlin on handicap which I found particularly irksome since I've yet to come closer than 20 secs to the merlin on handicap in my Solution and he finished second in a twenty one boat fleet which is pretty damned good and proves the boat is equally at home on the sea as it is inland.
The course wasn't too big and we couldn't fly the kite on one leg, but all the same, and he beat all the Lasers, only a well sailed Contender put enough ground between himself and the rest of us not to fall under the Solution hammer.

Well, old age has caught up with me. My Solution is for sale. Sail No 450, six years old, built my Ovington. Comes with padded rudder bag, spare alloy tiller extension, gunwhale-hung trolley, over cover, sexy black Selden spars. New in past six months: Ratchet block, carbon tiller extension, mainsheet, more powerful cunningham and outhaul, rear traveller. Sail is full-cut Hyde good for club racing, but would probably need replacing for serious championships. Hull, spars, foils all in excellent condition. No road trailer. £3650. I'll post this in the For Sale section.

Oh yes - sexy black spars. People regularly come up to the boat and tap the spars, expecting them to be carbon. See photo above.

... and we try and encourage carbon mast buyers to get them finished in white for all sorts of sensible practical reasons.

And after all 'White' is the 'new black'  if you like  ...  Wink

OK - what colour would you like the spars!? I can custom-spray them sky-blue pink dazzle camouflage  for a small sum...

Indeed..... I've found someone that will do pink numbers too!
Hmnnn, now if I could only persuade Emma that these tweaks are 'essential'!
