Interesting discussion down the club.

Everyone can sail anything they like in a series and be counted. The score is attached to the Helm and they have the handicap of whatever they sailed in that race. Has anyone run a series on this basis?

Obvious downside is those who are serious by a quiver of boats and sails !

I dunno- I ordered my new car today, it's got a hybrid engine; that's surely up there for sandal-wearing, carrot crunching, eco botherer brownie points?   LOL

You will turn in to a wood botherer next......

I note Nessa has a wooden solo for sale for a reasonable buck.....   but hey, hybrid has a green credential, and I can of course thoroughly bypass the fact that it's been shipped from Japan and the carbon load freight has to bare...

it could use a north sails logo down the panel work.... and then needs to rock side to side when stationery at the lake.

We have that option, but I don't recall anyone winning a series who was doing a lot of boat swapping. If they did I'd think we'd review.

The current record is held by the chap who sailed 5 different classes in last year's Wednesday evening series... His preferred boat is his RS400, but he's sailing with a sub teen son this year, so given reasonable breeze he swaps to a borrowed RS200 because the 400 kite is too much for the crew, and in very serious breeze one evening they used a club FevaXL. When no crew's available he has a Laser, and for the last race of the series he borrowed an RS300, at least partly, I think to wind me up...

So in the circumstances its easy to see why he's swapping boats about - so he can sail with his son. Its hard to see that as a problem, because if he really had a desperate need to get his name on the board again he'd be sailing with an adult forward hand.
