After wasting their money on one of those cars I doubt that they'd have any left for anything else.

Shameful admission for one purporting to being a sailor!

Why am I not surprised at that, which goes some way to explain the culture of putting up with all the crap there is on the market.

Questions when buying a new car:
- does it come with a tow bar? - how much space for damp kit? - iPod jack for long journeys? - tax, how much rape and pillage will I suffer?
The natural conclusion is that we should all be driving around in LCVs... namely 4x4 trucks. They are not nice cars, but they ain't bad sailing vehicles.

I want a nice car towing a nice dinghy. Something like 2003 Audi TT (£2500) towing decent Tasar (£2500)........oops! that's £5000. See, you can have it all!

A car needs to be a box with a towbar. A boat, however, needs soul. This doesn't mean it has to cost a lot.

I'm more: - Does it handle well? - How fast is it? - Does it have reasonable to good mpg? - Can I have the one without the hundreds of buttons on the dash? - Why do I need built in sat nav? (Why do I need a sat nav at all?) - I'm the driver, who cares if the passenger wants their own temperature control, they should be grateful for the lift.
