Ive sailed a 3 tonner single-handed - very controlable, even with the kite up! Think im gona give it a go on my 49er soon when the wind dies down |

Presumably you know of the story from Torbole when they were doing the trials of performance twohanders for a potential Olympic Class? From day one it was clear that the 49er was in a completely different league to all the others, and there was some circulation of tales that all this was very well, but no normal sailors could possibly handle them... So Julian took one out singlehanded in 15knots and ran it up and down and round the lake, kite and all, singlehanded... |

I sail my laser 2 single handed but the issue of PY has never arisen 'cause I so rarely finish a race. Windy = can't get back up wind, not windy = too bored going back down ....... .. and to make it viable at all I've modded the boat way out of class rules. Think single handing these boats is a fun thing. If you want to race, get an rs600 / 700 / musto skiff or a contender or an IC even. Does the Buzz need any mods to get it single handing? What kind of wind range is possible (or enjoyable at least)? |

WOW Jim - ill definately have to give it a go! perhaps de-power the F********** outa it! hahahahaha, You know me! The only problem I can see is launch / landing - as the foils are so stupidly tight in the case, and only a little slipway with moored boats and a sodin jetty (gota love the Catwater in Plymouth!) But itll be a good juggling act. Andy |
