Oh and the sail, well that was insane! 17knots on the club weather station when we launched, pretty windy for a first sail and such a big jump in classes!

Had some trouble with the trapeze lines which meant i couldnt go wire to wire, i could but i kept coming unhooked, i seemed to pick it up fairly quickly somehow!? but anyway, a bit of cockyness there led to my only capsize of the night. got the kite up too and did a few nice gybes

Such a fun boat too, i was out with a 29er and they were well off the 700 pace!

Cant wait until next monday when i can give it another go!

David

Last night I was out again in the 700 and was happily sailing around before the start of the wednesday evening race, unfortunately too happily as i managed to miss my start because I was showing off planing up the river with my kite up when saw the rest of the superfast fleet all sailing straight at me from the startline

Anyway I turned round and joined in from the back of the fleet and was catching fast, that was until the rescue boat commented on how much twist i had in my main, so i pulled on the kicker and the boat suddlenly became impossible to sail.  It was ok in a straight line but tacking was impossible! Is it just a case of letting off kicker before each tack? or is there another trick to this?

It was very gusty wind last night, earlier in the day it was gusting 35knots according to the weather station on the club, when we launched it was gusting 20 knots i would say... and by the start of the race it was gusting 16knots ish and in the lulls it was completely dead, so spent a lot of time going in and out on the wire which was interesting!

How did you keep coming unhooked? I dont get it?  It must be a technique thing.

The trapeze lines were virtually unadjustable because the tails were so short so i couldnt take up the slack in the trapeze lines when i was hooked on and about to step out so they kept coming unhooked, sorted now though. Part of it was just needing to throw myself over the side and go for it.

Its hard sailing in the river because its so gusty but as soon as you get out and round the corner its much nicer! Just need some more time on the water!
