In what way? It's just as well-suited, or ill-suited, as the women's keelboat in fleet or match racing. |

For match racing, the exact boat used is much less important. The boats used on the top-class tours vary immensly from event to event- and the ladies who'll be going for Olympic spots will have to compete on the top circuits. As said, the Yngling isn't a suitable Match race boat, and keelboats are considerably more "regional" than dinghies. So they've plumped for a boat which has been used at top level, and that presumably has been priased by those who've used it. I guess... |

the elliott is a proven match racing boat, and no suitable class is international enough in keelboats because keelboats do tend to be more regional anyway.

If they hadn't relaxed the rules a bit the Yngling would have been the match rcing keelboat, which its not very well suited for. |

470 had enough supporters, Yngling did not. If you were expecting some consistent and coherent decision-making criteria, think again. |

Hmm it seems strange that they are adopting some classes such as the Elliot 6 (which we don't seem to sail over here) and saying they won't adopt others due to many of the countries not sailing that class, I'm slightly confused by it all to be honest. Can someone enlighten me?

When we had the match racing medal in the Solings it was fleet racing to decide the top 4 then matches to decide the winner. Is this going to be the same Elliott format? |

A lift keel for transportation purposes and other modifications to optimize
the boat for the approved crew weight. Full list of mods to be confirmed by 31st may 2009. Did indeed take a few more google searches to put together the right phrase for it to track down the info. Edited by Doug.H |
