No one ever said sailing was cheap, but my top tip for the day would be to politely tell your girlfriend that due to the non-sustainable capitalist undertones of Valentine's day and all associated "traditional" celebrations rammed down our throats by the likes of Clinton cards etc, you will not be taking her out for a candlelit meal for two now, but instead you propose that she comes round to your "romantic 14 mast varnishing party"...it will be just the two of you, and by the way it's bring your own varnish.
