You are rather sounding like someone grinding an axe for a different class. Not sure if that's the aim, but that's what's coming across.

The olympics is two weeks in four years, involving what, a couple of hundred sailors?
Sailing is much bigger than that. If the few facets of sailing showcased by the olympics don't suit you, perhaps the problem is you are being sucked in to our East-German style medal-farming attitude to sport? Personally I see young people of various sizes sailing a lot of different boats and I see for instance 29er world champions as being in the same league as olympic champions. The olympics is really just a TV circus for the masses, it is not the most important part of sport, but the way the OP moans that it's not all encompassing only serves to bolster its strangle hold on the attention and money supply.

I had a mate that was 6'6" and bought an old laser to learn to sail in. Its worth noting that height brings with it long legs and in a laser that's not all good. He had a real problem just fitting in.
Clearly some one young and fit can handle that but it will be putting an increased strain on there bodies etc so its not all good

apart from starting a thread, titled in her name, on one of the leading online sailing publications... using her biometrics as some form evidence for your own personal soap box promoting some noddy class (UK wise) that even a company as awesome as Ovington couldn't get the wider market to adopt...

Yes I am promoting a class, it is a hobby. Is it surprising that I use the recent winner of a European Gold as an example, why not? Using the term 'Noddy Class' is just plain offensive....Fatty. It would take to long to explain what went on with Ovington and Byte but it makes good reading.
It would seem that the RYA are taking 2 boats from Nautivillia for assessment re 2014 youth Olympics. If that comes off a manufacturer may appear. The Olympics is the pinnacle of the sport as far as the general public are concerned so why should it not reflect the general public?

Because the general public are largely slobs who sit in front of the telly instead of doing any sport? There is a limit to how many disciplines can be in the olympics, I suspect sailing has quite a good ratio of available medals to public participation.

So are you saying that we use boats that represent the public.....slob.......? I thought the idea was to encourage those 'slobs' out of their chairs and into sport. Certainly that is why Sport England gave our club a bucket of money. I am not wishing the organisation of the Olympics to change completely, just add an additional or replace one class.

SO the Olympics shouldn't use the Laser? Fair enough ..... what's the Laser ever done for mass participation in sailing?
