Well that's good to know - as Russ says, bring it over here and prove it's quicker than both an RS100 and Devoti One using lots of different helms against both the fleets here.
FED Week would be good, although not W/L. Results - in a race series - or it didn't happen. |

It looks like there is a lot of nice attention to detail in the Astom. Whether it can be a commercial success in the UK is doubtful, given the headstart the 100 and D1 have, but I'm sure it's a joy to sail and high quality. Still too narrow for reaching, but no worse in that regard than the 100.
Might be time to think about a box rule to grandfather them all? |

Check out the height of the gooseneck, then you know that the rig does not match the Devoti One. It may be that Devoti has the same manufacturer, but our bending curve is different. Our sail is cut differently and the material is high quality. Landenberger has no need to copy it to Devoti One.

Warning to German-speakers: this is a typically facetious English remark

He knows full well that nobody (except maybe Vlad) yet knows how fast or slow the MX Next will be, but we Englishmen never really grow up.

It's not facetious... It's a genuine question. We've already heard it's definitely far quicker than a D1 (and RS100 by default then); yet there appears to be no public record of race results to back that up- especially in a bit of breeze when this type of craft ought to be 'at its best'.
We've also been told not to compare it to the MX Ray- you know the other singlehanded hiking asymmetric - so I was genuinely interested in whether it's quicker than the MX Next. Quicker to market at least, given we're being pimped at and the 'established competition' are being contrasted against. Edited by pondmonkey - 15 Apr 13 at 9:47am |

To be honest with you as a D-One sailor i couldnt careless if its faster than me. The PY will reflect (should) the fact its faster and as such i will be able to race it in a reasonably fair enviroment anyway. Its what we do with the 100's! An 18ft skiff is faster than a d1 also, Just for your info. What we do have is top international competition with fleets growing globally (both USA, AUS, Europe) racing against some of the best sailors in the world. Some with Olympic pedigree at some of the best locations. So I wish the Astom and MX Next well, but i like to think it has some fairly strong competitors in the D1 and RS100.
However if you do want to make wild claims about your boats speed, put your money where you mouth is and come over here and race us. As my old man always said, put up or shut up.

There are plenty of D1's on the European lakes, aren't there, which would give a racing area in which both boats were developed. What we also need to do is remove crew-skill factor, so boats would need to be swapped. And raced over a variety of conditions. Then we will know.
10sqM main. Hmmm, no wonder the boat looks overpowered in the video, though maybe the flatish water makes the wind seem less than it was? |

Does look like a big boys boat, something to take over from the 10.2 sailors

Great news - asymmetric singlehanded wipe themselves out before they really get going :-(
