I had one for some years and loved it. Regretted selling so can't say more than that.

I've sailed one a couple of times including in some wind. Well mannered and put together boat that was comfortable to hike from. I don't recall the boom being as high as the pics seem to suggest - but it was some while ago. I don't actually think there is much on the market like it, so it could be worth an importers punt.

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else

They are nice to sail. Nigel Vause from cvrda has one at Thornbury which I had a go in on a reasonably wind day. I'm 6'2" and 84kg and I found it perfectly suited to my build. The mkII rig is good but it's a fairly early generation carbon spar so there are better rigs on Phantoms and OKs. The deck moulding is a great shape and very easy to hike off. Not sure if I liked having a daggerboard on a boat this big but it all works well enough. It is critical that you rig everything correctly at the mast foot otherwise some of the controls jam up as the rig rotates.

I've managed to track one down after just a couple of hours interwebbing.

Zim the manufacturer have recently tied up a distribution deal with RS in the US and already have the same with Hartleys. Would be nice to imagine that as part of a deal they could import some in the opposite direction. Not likely tho, tho you could kind of imagine Hartleys taking a punt. Also the Zim 15 looks nice, tho maybe a bit Iconish

I wondered why the baseball kept getting bigger. Then it hit me. |

There are not many of them in the UK at all. I know there were 2 at Hunts but I believe they are both gone now.

I'm quite interested in buying a Megabyte. Anybody know where there's one for sale, please?

It's a bit bigger and more comfortable.
I believe the mk2 sail is larger than my old Dacron, very expensive to import from Canada. By the sounds of the posts a PY of 1074, shouldn't be far off.

the mk2 is much bigger. There is one at Portishead. Much bigger sail area, different mast top section - like the byte c2, a differnt class really.
I think there are only six in the country altogether. A shame. Zim sailing have said they will export stuff to the uk, so perhaps things will improve? |

the same, but different...
