By the way Rodney, Broxbourne is Hertfordshire not Essex.  I'd hate to see you get lost!

You all make me feel so guilty!  We are booked into the Waldorf Astoria for the weekend  Smile

I can't wait to have a corned beef hash breakfast there with, of course, a Bucks Fizz or three  Approve

Of course we (her indoors and me) will be at the dinner on the Saturday night and back in time for racing on the Sunday morning!

Keith, I know that it's a fearful thought for you to have to leave Essex but, when we chose the location, we had these fears of yours in mind and ensured that you would not have to leave the Holy ground  LOL

It's just your side of the River Lee, Broxbourne Sailing Club 2012 | Meadgate Road, Nazeing, Essex. EN9 2PB.   By the way I seem to remember your satnav kept telling us to to U turns in Valencia when not necessary.  Perhaps you would like me to arrange for a native guide?  Come to think of it it might be necessary at the end of the Saturday night's festivities  Ermm

Bucks Fizz, surely not, it must be Brandy and Babycham, the drink of champions!

Have I missed something?  Is Pondmonkey coming to show us all how to do it?  I hope so as we need his entry fee!

I will put up an NOR in the next day or two.  The club doesn't have the facility to take online entry payments so we will make that possible through our website (all is agreed with Broxbourne SC).  Entry Fee £30 to include meal after racing on Saturday and bacon butties with tea on Sunday morning!  Extra meals can be ordered at £7 per head.

BTW  Broxbourne SC are very excited about the event.

I am pleased to report that Broxbourne Sailing Club have pulled out all of the stops to provide us with a great weekend's sailing.   I am very grateful for all of the thought that the sailing club has given to hosting this event even to the point that they have cancelled all club racing for the Saturday afternoon and Sunday. The event will be 13th/14th October and an NOR and entry form will be available soon.

I realise that it's a fair distance for many of you but it's looking more and more like I will be travelling from France on the morning of 13th October so please try to make the journey.

  • Maximum 40 boats.
  • Format - 3-4, b2b races each day.  Courses to be discussed and agreed with host club.
  • Times - 13.00 first signal on 13th October with view to ending last race by around 17.00 and 10.00 first signal on 14th October 2012 with view to ending last race by 14.00.
  • Social - Dinner/Bar on Saturday evening and prize giving after racing on Sunday.
  • Bacon Butties will also be available  Smile
As you will see there is plenty of local accommodation to suit all tastes and on site camping as well as a campsite just half a mile away.

I hope that everyone who has put their names down will support this first, hopefully of many,

YachtsandYachting.com Forumites Open Meeting!  If you haven't yet put your names down please do so now so as not to be disappointed.  Maximum entries is 40.  As the club is going to so much effort to support our event it's important that we have an early indication of numbers and, of course, I am hoping that we will manage to get up to the 40 maximum.
