Hi Keith, The boat heading your way is an ex demo, orginal deck, D-One. I will be interested to hear how things fair with the arrival of a D-One in Dalgety Bay. Keep us posted Some people want to see the new deck so I am posting some pics below (apologies to those who don't like the blue). I will try to take some more pictures of a white/carbon decked boat later this week.

This is a great looking boat and the videos I've seen look fantastic. It looks so much more of a boat than the RS100. I saw a 100 in the flesh last week and, especially with the little rig, it looks like a bit of a toy boat ? It was nicely finished but the little rig looked piddly and the hull just looked tiny.I'd be amazed if it can realllly carry much weight. It would be great to see the two boats in action against each other on some proper water. However, my thoughts are that the D1 looks a far more potent weapon.

When you look at how well the new deck lines have referenced the other angles on the boat it is amazing to think you didn't do it like this in the first place! Looks really good. And now having sailed an RS100 I can say although I liked its look against the the original D-One. The RS did not suit me ergonomically, and there are some issues with capsize recovery I didn't like. I have a bug bear about over buoyancy. I need to sail a D-One now to confirm my thoughts on how I expect it to sail. |

That is one sexy bit of kit!
I think the 100 looks nice and has obviously got a following however as far as I can tell the cost difference isn't that large, there is one for sale second hand for just over 9grand. The two that were at my club are both being sold as the guys who sail them just don't like them (both very good sailors, one national champ) It just seems to bounce around upwind and struggles in the light stuff. Where as the D-one seems to glide upwind even if it doesnt look as well balanced fore and aft downwind as the 100, I also imagine the 100 (10.2?) rigg's handicap will come closer to the d-one eventually. |

Rick, that's what i wanted to see. The new white/carbon deck layout against the old one in the 'European' Blue (I call it that as it seems more popular in Italy etc. then here) |

Thanks Matteo, but i was after some close up shots, you
can't see the difference clearly there. Having said that even the MK1 fordeck looks OK in grey, i think its just the coloured decks that look rubbish. But then they would on most boats!! Imagine a Laser, or Phantom with a bright blue foredeck and white hull! |

I like the original look in grey, too. The blue deck has a slightly 1970's look about it - a bit like the weird colours used in early Lightnings, which haven't aged well! Have there been any different colour hulls? That can look much better. Glad to see no one has taken up the GRF method of launching into an onshore breeze... |
