I know what you mean.  You're doing a good job for just the one camera though.  I still can't get used to how much memory the gopro chews through.  Need to buy more cards.

A 16 or 32gb is all you need really, nothing too massive. They're pretty cheap now too.

Cheap is a relative terms these days Wink

I've got a 4 and an 8, I prefer smaller cards, that way if they get lost or corrupted I lose less data.  Just need to buy more of them, but they're pretty low on the priorities list as far as stuff for sailing goes right now.

16gb for about £12 is pretty cheap to me!

I use 8 and 16gb in my cameras, shooting 50mb files they don't last too long....

Where are you getting them at that price from?  That's less than I paid for the 8gig I think.  Are you getting ones with slower read/write speeds and does that effect the recording performance when shooting video?

If your using a gopro you need to make sure the write rate of the card matches or exceeds that of the camera... Or you will get a very jumpy film.

MyMemory.com or memorybits.co.uk usually. I use Kingston cards, cheaper than the 'brand' names but just as good quality with quick read and write times.

Thanks for the tip on cards Tom! I have just invested in a DRIFT HD nice bit of kit especially for the price I got it!

For the gopro it is really important to get a really quick card. I have a very top end card in mine and it still occasionally cuts my videos in two which i understand is due to the card speed. That is a 16GB card that I got from amazon for 20 quid

A class 4 card or higher should be fine. It's not like you are trying to record HD footage.
