Thanks for the support, I have to admit that even after this it was still a huge amount of fun, and if the rib hadn't been too occupied I would have enjoyed staying out since we seemed to be coping okay, but I would much prefer to see my friends safe TBH.

Oh dear, this has all got out of hand hasn't it! 

All I can say is great video guys, good on you for going out and giving it a go! 

The impact on insurance that your little incident will have had is completely negligible... for anyone to even assume that it would make a difference to the insurance of a class the size of the 29er is clearly no expert.  If this was a class such as say the RS600 where the masts are expensive, and the boats are cheap, then there is more of an impact on insurance.  I wouldnt be surprised if a new mast would write off a lot of the 600s out there today.

If a particular class has a rash of claims then you can be sure the premiums will be more the following year.
 
The only reason premiums are as low as they are is due to the 100s of boats that lie idle in dinghy parks

Great Video find there Nessa, its really well produced.  Could so with a bit more sailing and less talking though.  Maybe even some clips of an attractive man (me) sailing a D-one...

what the d one really needs of course is an attractive woman in it, to show it has all round appeal....

I do love Vimeo, slightly more  arty I think, as opposed to film it and stick it up on youtube...now we need Mark or Merlinmags to tell us how to do a nice link thing
