There, it's got everything I like in a boat, except those damn self balers and a stayed rig, but reckon I could live with that but for the huge rig, I've come to realise 9 sq mtrs and above is a bit much for 67 kgs to hike in a blow Fattwistyoffhead sail or not, but if I were bigger I'd be all over this like a bad rash.

Over to you Keith to show us more of the features.
Looks nice and would suite me in a few years when I admit that I dont want to sail in open meetings etc.

Good point! There are some shots of the interior here

First impressions of the layout (the H2 looks fantastic in those 'on the water' shots elsewhere. Where do you sit in light airs upwind when you need to keep the back end out of the water? Looks like it's on all those cleats to me. The reaching toe straps on top of the aft tank look either very hard to get a foot under or far too high. That distinctive centre buoyancy tank looks distinctly 'marmite'..... brilliant idea though. I think I'd like one but there's no way I can justify a new boat just now and by the time there are enough used ones for them to be affordable I suspect I'll be hanging up my hikers. Will stick with the Blaze for now (and, FWIW, in my short acquaintance I haven't found the Blaze to be sticky in the light stuff).

BTW, My dad and I used to race OKs at Elton against Harold Smith back in the day (when Lawrie was a nipper) We were there at the time he got his Harrier. I think dad was tempted but (as was his way) he took the conservative option and bought a L@ser when I stopped sailing in favour of beer, girls and guitars.

Its a nice looking boat and in theory should stop kneeling, but assume you would have to be sitting over the cleats on the 'thwart' downwind in the light?

I am always looking for a boat that doesn't have extreme hiking and doesn't end with kneeling as knees have done so much of it over the years......

Perhaps the H2 is one? Plenty of kneeling in the old Blaze I am knocking around in, although super comfortable elsewhere. Solo has no real kneeling but shins can take a battering.

I think the Hadron will prove popular with the Merlin crowd for obvious reasons, but need to get some demos circulating and pick on some Merlin friendly clubs. The Aero got traction because its a clever and fun boat but also because they ran a strong demo circuit. The Aero is IMHO the boat for most people, responds to kinetics and fitness. Fast on all points and works well in waves. It will be a Jo Richards classic.

The Hadron is dare I say it for the Solo sailor looking for something faster and who sales is in a handicap rather than Solo fleet.

I think they have moved the control cleats off the thwart and onto the inwale, which I am sure is a good refinement.  It is a very different to the Aero and I don't think that you would be considering one versus the other.

People compare some very different boats when deciding what to get - far further apart than H2 and Aero, where the big rig is for similar weights to this.

I still like it, if handicap racing were my thing, I'd be sorely tempted.... it just looks elegant and a joy to own, sail and potentially race.

Having sailed both the H2 and the H1 they are both very nice boats indeed. The central tank looks like it might be an issue but in reality it didn't cause me any issues at all. my problem was I am used to smaller boats where I can just pivot and sit down on the new side, the Hadrons definitely need a step.

The sailing experience was nice but I didn't get the sensation of speed of feel the acceleration like I do in the D-Zero (probably because I am close to the water in the D-Zero).

Raced against them at the Grafham GP, my gut feeling is that speed wise they will settle out around the same at the D-Zero, maybe be a little quicker once the optimal rig settings are worked out.

Would I buy one? Not at the minute I am loving the D-Zero too much. When I am a fair few years older and considering a Solo then a Hadron of some form may well make it on to my list.
