I could tell you a funny story about what was probably the first boat ever built in Kevlar and thanks to my supreme sacrifice as it fell in half on sea trials with me in a business suit (we'd tried it out in our lunch hour)and kevlar was from that day forth only laminated with another element woven into the mix (Kevlar S-Glass).

The kevlar-reinforced (in the high load areas) Fireballs are a darn sight stiffer than the all glass boats. On flat water there may not be much difference, except perhaps in gust response being converted into forward drive instead of distorting the hull, but in waves you can feel an old(er) boat twisting and they can't take the rig tensions used today either. Sure I've missed something in the 22 pages of this thread.
But can someone tell me what this does that a phantom or a blaze or a halo or a solution (according to your size and weight) doesn't do? |

Congratulations NickA on bring this thread back on topic! Well, the H2 does many things that those singlehander dinghies do - it is, after all, a singlehander dinghy. If you want to know what differentiates the H2 from the others, may I refer you to the HADRON DINGHIES website and also some comments by H2 owners and others . |

Unbiased view (given I sail a Solution have a mate in a Phantom and once owned a Blaze I think the thing this will do above all else, will give a comfortable solution to downwind sailing without having to employ bloody kneepads, if all other things are equal. Although I reckon it'll also be an absolute weapon in light shifty airs on puddles, but not having been in one yet, you can't take that for definite, just an opinion. |

You should try one, it is a thoroughbred. I sailed one for the first and only time in a lot of breeze; capsized once before the start and it was a doddle to right, was nervous about gybing but was always totally in control. It is nicely put together, but there is scope for bimbling which could make it even nicer.
I sail at 83kg and I would consider myself too light for the Phantom. I sail on an estuary and I suspect the Blaze is a little too sticky in the light stuff. The only thing that stops me going for the Hadron H2 is a very strong fleet of Solos (15 -25 boats out most weekends) at my home club. If I sailed every week in a Handicap fleet I would buy a Hadron H2 without question.
I have not sailed or seen a Solution so I cannot comment on where it fits in. |

Having sailed a Phantom and Blaze in the last couple of years and now an OK; I did have a 'slow' sail at this years Bloody Mary in an H2 and I guess a comment would be "the H2 is like an iphone - extremly well put together, attractive and does something slightly different from all its competitors out there. Its unique but works very well.

I thought it a shame in the boat test we did not have images of the interior layout the Dougal talks about.
Over to you Keith to show us more of the features. Looks nice and would suite me in a few years when I admit that I dont want to sail in open meetings etc. |
