Well thats how he got stuck to leeward initially.

In this instance there was no problem and coach / safety boat was alongside by the time the camera submerged.

But on a serious note it does show how quickly a boat can invert and how easy it could be to get tangled in the rigging.

Eeeek! I'm glad someone was close at hand to help them, &
I'm glad he didn't get too tangled in the kicker....

75 boats for a Burghfield wed eve race!

Personal handicaping on a race by race basis definitely works to attract competitors

Webcam footage from the Dart 18 event at Whitstable last weekend.  Seen this type of footage before from Whitstable - love it!

Brilliant. Completely mesmorising.

What's with all the string on the mast? Is there really
nowhere to stash the main halyard?

How steady was that breeze? Looked like he was in front of a green screen with the boat on trestles and the odd bit of water splashed over him, with the background put in later!

The wind was shifting a bit - if you look at the boat over his shoulder it gains then drops back a couple of times before tacking off.

I think the steadiness is more a reflection of the skill of the sailor than the wind.
