Interesting.
Didn't I read that the rowing club and one other body were tenants of the sailing club? So does this mean that by forcing the sailing club into administration the site could be sold/bought without tenants in place? Which of course gives the new owners a lot more freedom about what they can do? Yes, interesting. I think were I a member of Bewl Valley SC I would not be leaping with joy about the change of ownership. Maybe I'm just too old and cynical. Apparently 'Wentworth' , golf club thingy in Surrey now require a £125,000 joining fee. Way to go chaps! I'd want the water warming for that!

Wentworth, Marcus Caring must be wondering what he has done selling to Thai Chinese buyers for £135,000,000. Each member has till 2017 to come up with a £100,000 debenture, which they have not clarified whether it will be repaid or interest rate exc. Failure to pay with make membership thereafter nil and void. One way of making a quick profit and covering the cost of the purchase.
So it looks like they will clear out most of the long standing members and open it up to the non domiciled super rich. Papers quoted that only around 670 of the several thousand members would be able to afford it. Prior to this annual fees were £8,000. So the club will lose identity and the area will be worse for it. Globalisation is not always a good thing

And they say sailing is elitist....even grass roots golf clubs seem horrendously expensive compares to a lot of sailing clubs.
