I'll find out for you.... shame that Ex Laser / Blue One / other name fella doesn't post here anymore. He could give you the low-down on a demo boat that's only a few miles from his house.
One assumes he's extensively tested it ;-)

AFAIK - Devoti Zero BLUE (totally differently class, PY number / EN dependent on returns) That's the official line anyway, unofficially I'd imagine they'll all just melee in together - much how the Aero 7 and 9s seem to.

If we all decanted to Twitter or Instagram would it not just denigrate into the bitchfest we see on here from time to time?
There is far more to Y and Y than just the forum. Nice to have it all in one place even if it isn't the last word in soshul meedya. |

I'm very much out of here for now but thanks for the support both here and by direct message. It goes against my principles to name the person who sent me the following article, and against my own 'minimal feeding' principles on this forum. But how could anyone possibly resist sharing the item below ......
![]() Understand the Troll To defeat the enemy, we must understand them first. There are two fundamental reasons why a troll trolls:
Don’t Feed The Trolls The reason we respond to negative comments is the same reason a troll does what they do: ego. When someone unknown comes at us, it’s part of our human nature to defend ourselves. A part of us doesn’t want to stay silent, because we think silence means surrendering, and surrendering means losing. That’s just a bad philosophy. After years of dealing with this kind of behaviour, both in a virtual reality and in the comment sections of an article, the harsh reality is this: You will never beat a troll. You will never change a troll’s mind. You may delude yourself into thinking that you proved them wrong, however, never in my years of dealing with trolls have I seen a troll lay down his or her arms and say, “You know what, you’re right. I was so wrong.” Indeed, blowing off steam after dealing with a troll is our first reaction. It’s like driving: someone cuts you off, you feel disrespected, so you drive up next to the person’s window so you can see what they look like, or you flash some hand gestures to let them know that they aren’t getting away with it. What makes this practice of not responding to trolls so difficult is that many of us are naturally inclined to react to our impulses. It’s so much easier to respond than it is to hold back. Here’s a few ways that I use to handle trolls: Use foresight So a troll is attacking you. Ask yourself: If I respond to this troll, what will likely be the outcome? This requires us to pause and take a breath. We need to be mindful of what we’re telling ourselves after reading something that attacks our ego. What are we feeling and why? Are we angry because the troll’s comment contains validity? Have you seen this scenario before in other settings? These small shifts in our perception should influence us to not feed the trolls, to realize that any attempt to change a troll’s mind is an exercise of futility. Practice your principles If you don’t have principles on how to deal with trolls, now is the time. The reason why abiding to principles is so helpful is because they tell us how to act. “Do this, not this.” It focuses on the long-term outcome, whereas acting on our impulses creates many possible—and unfavourable—results. If there is one thing I learned both in psychology and philosophy, it’s this: No one can hurt you. It is what we tell ourselves about the specific event or person that creates the feeling. So if we’re telling ourselves, “How dare this person say this to me,” we’re creating feelings of entitlement and anger. In the words of Marcus Aurelius, “It can ruin your life only if it ruins your character. Otherwise it cannot harm you — inside or out.” As we become more vulnerable online, the chances of being trolled increases. The more you put yourself out there, the more likely you will come across people who despise or don’t understand your work. Because technology is maturing faster than we are, trolls will always exist and will feel compelled to sabotage you and your work. Why? Because they have nothing better to do. It unmans them to see you pursuing an artistic and worthy endeavor. Is a world without trolls possible? Highly unlikely. So we must stop asking the impossible. Instead, we can follow the one principle that safeguards our creativity and productivity, and keeps the troll at bay...... Whatever you do: Don’t feed the trolls !.

I thought you had gone? Nah, only joking. All said and done, dinghy building is a cottage industry for most. I like it when these boat builders post their development news here. I'm glad that Y&Y are accepting of these posts which I believe are good for the sport. In fact I wish more would and a few names that spring to mind are Aardvark, Blood Axe, Boatyard at Beer, Ovingtons etc. I don't want to have to trawl through all of their various (often rubbish) websites and social media output just to prevent me being totally out of touch. Mike has never sl*gged off any other boat and regularly offers test sails so buyers and fender kickers can make informed decisions. That is a brilliant service and our sport of dinghy sailing/racing needs exactly this type of support and enthusiasm. So, Mike, climb into your full body armour carry on informing us of your activities. |

I to would like to see more posts from builders, the informed and accurate information would be like a breath of fresh air blowing in.
I am happy for the moderators to police any excesses. Of course there will always be some who know better, sniff lies and conspiracy which I why I suspect most builders have stayed well clear. |

sounds like he's come the conclusion contributing here wasn't delivering a 'return on investment'.... sign of a true commercial agenda. And I can't fault that assessment, I doubt many Halo or Fire rigs have been shifted blathering on about them here, not compared to working on the ground in the captive market of Blaze owners, who will see this as a way to extend the wind range of their boats, maybe even offer opportunities to benefit in handicap racing.
Of course it's nice to blame other people by calling them names, oddly enough, by doing the very thing you are accusing them of. Sweet beauty in that I guess, and I'm sure we'll see Mike back in due course.

Agree with much of this. Its really good to read about developments. The Blaze rigs being a perfect case in point. However from my perspective talking about development is one thing but you can cross the line into what some may deem as commercial intent. Again, no problem with that if you help fund the hosting site by buying an ad.....Builders stay clear (well they dont actually we have had RS, Devoti, Cirrus all post about developments on here) because they have or should have enough respect to understand this site needs commercial advertisers to function so selling products over a public forum however 'loose' the ad maybe is a little disrespectful. I value Mikes input, much as i do for 99% of people on this forum, however like i said before you live by the forum you die by it. So expect some criticism, expect people to challenge you or don't post with commercial slant. But you are right, people sniff lies and conspiracy theories..some of which by the way have turned out to be true. But that is the very nature of this medium. Forums are not for everybody. You need to be thick skinned (something Mike says he is, but has been proved not the case) in order to get the most from them. Yes this site has allot of noise. But there is so much information on here thats good for people. Sadly you need the noise to keep the momentum up to help dig up the occasional nugget. As for the rant about trolling? Mike needs to read that himself. What's been posted here is not trolling, its feedback. We can all try and add credence to our posts by saying thanks to 'All those who have mailed me in support' but frankly he has been caught red handed. In my book the forum will miss his input from a 'Mike' Perspective..

I suspect Mike has got fed up with answering questions and then getting slated. Yes he has always suggested people trying a blaze in numerous posts, but thats hardly a sin. What he has never done, that I have seen, is try and manipulate posts to rubbish other boats. In fact if there hadn't been the rs aero and a big club drive, I suspect a few more of us would have been in Blazes this season.
The fact that RS seems to have given up posting here save in extremis suggests that manufacturers input gets abused here and therefore its advisable to stay away. Personally I think thats a shame and to the detriment of the forum. This thread is about development and if you want some of the guys who are doing it to post and also elicit genuine feedback, then you won't get it if everytime they post they are seen as a target and ripped to shreds. The forum is what you make it ......
