Presumably to avoid the major annoyance of the Laser of getting the mainsheet hooked round the transom on every gybe.

Typical... Perhaps I should have written aft mainsheet as per 100 and left it at that... I think a bridle allowing the sheet to be below the centreline is important without having to rely on a loose bridle and an over tight kicker which will just flatten the sail too much in the light stuff. The 100 actually worked very well in this respect.

Such a hard market to crack. When the 100 came out all you wealthy fashion conscious boys loved the sexy carbon panel and parted with your cash. I did myself but  lacked the 'wealth' and 'boy' bit. How could this dent the Solo market or affect Supernova sales? Solution has not set the World alight so why should this?

I quite like it...There you go i said it!  Nice idea, i agree about the slight look of a D1 about it.  I also like the use of Dacron. Laminate sails are all very well,  but in my opinion there is nothing wrond with a dacron rag, something timeless about it.

Good luck RS....Bet no one was expecting that from me.

I used to have a Solution, lovely boat to sail, great in a blow, but I agree that it could do with a bit more waterline length to make it more of an all rounder.  I did think of sticking some scaffolding on the back and shifting the rudder back 6 inches to see if that helped.  Never got round to doing it though.
What could possibly go wrong?

Have you considered ducking when the boom crosses or is this still a surprise?

I recall you saying you did not wear a cap because you could not feel the wind ... Perhaps if you felt the boom a few times you would work out where it is a ducking would say you this problem.

Anyway. It is a vareo isn't it?

Looks like the moulds have been hashed up from mdf looking at all those angles. Needs better deck styling.

Feckless youth!   Why were you wasting it on that when drink and drugs were available?

Read before posting.

"Anyway, these are photos of a proto, built to test / develop the fundamentals - shape "styling" not yet applied so finished boat bound to differ in appearance"
Needs to sail more...

As i understand it there was some kind of fall out between the team that developed the solution and beleive this may of stalled its initial growth.  (Could of got that wildly wrong though)  That coupled with a rubbish PY in my opinion has stalled the growth somewhat.  Which to my mind is a shame as it isnt a bad boat.  RS have the power and market pressence to make anything have limited success.  So i imagine we will see and massive early adoption again, then followed by a cooling off period  and finally the boat will find its true place in the market.  THats whats happened with many of the last boats launched.  No problem with that as it sells boats, but im just not sure its the right model to follow.  But can see it from a commercial perspecive.
