[Just done a quick sum. At those fuel consumptions (48 and 53mpg), you need to cover 42,854 miles to get payback on £600 worth of trailer (assuming fuel is £1.45 a litre).]

That's 13 years of towing down to the south coast six times a year!

There are other, non-cost factors, both plus and minus in play. Pitching up at a Travelodge at 11.00pm on the Friday night and trying to find a two car place sometimes isn't easy; yet the ability to push the trailer to the side of the house after getting back late on Sunday night is a great advantage over the need to be untying and lifting the boat off the roof ahead of the Monday return to work.

To add that if you are using toll roads and/or ferries then the trailer adds to the cost.
