Cardiff to Weston

   You should have no problem, only issue is they wont let you lock out of cardiff with your sails up!!! One of the guys from our club tried it in his Wayfarer (sailed from Thornbury, look it up on google!), anyway the harbourmaster didnt take to kindly to it and they had to be towed in by a passing yacht.

My ex int 14 helm has sailed his Laser 2000 from Thornbury to Flatholm (just off of Cardiff) for a weekend with crew along with another couple of guys who took a Buzz, my father-in-law joined them singlehanded on his Dart 15!

Ok we are further up the channel but regularly sail from across to Chepstow YC in dinghies, in fact Nigel Lovett has taken his A-class across for our club picnic on several occasions.

So should be an absolute doddle. Its only about 4 miles across from Cardiff and if you need to quickly get to the shore you have flatholm and steepholm to aim for.

	We're planning a trip across the Bristol Channel as part of a Charity Baton Relay from St Kilda to Shoeburyness in Essex. Has anyone here ever sailed a cat across and have you any tips. We're going on the 19th May, High Water is 1130. Boat is an F18 and we have safety / video boat accompanying us.
