Guess this is going to be a bit/lot like the Flight 4.3 from Germany...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ1ZpQRSxL8

The Flight 4.3 is derived from one of Australia's most successful family regatta classes, (The Northbridge Senior - NS14). The hull is imported from Australia by Landenberger Sailing specifically for the purpose of creating a new one design racing class in Europe encompassing the latest technology at a price affordable to the average weekend sailor

Should be a nice boat.

When was the last 2 sailed class (UK based) last designed? Anything newer than the Tasar? Apart from new N12 designs, of course. I guess the point of a 2 sailed boat is close racing, not ultimate speed, and the N12, Firefly, Grad, Ent and Alb had the market pretty much sewn up for various body weights. Despite my jacuzzi comment, I would love to see a modern take on the old, simple idea. Plenty of modern assy boats to be getting on with, mostly with marketing might behind them.

Now that is a nice looking boat. Stick with the daggerboard - so much easier than mucking about with slot gaskets.

Allright then .... a bit more Icon porn and then that is it for a while.   Rig shots in about 1-2 weeks, too much of this curvy hull stuff is obviously getting to a few of you.  The rig is well ... you'll just have to wait on that one.

PS - Thanks for all the messages & feedback both here and direct.

f**k me Mike, that is damn sexy!

Simon,

I support England although the Welsh Valleys Boy'o are my families home lads!!  Not sure if you know my brother from his Phantom days, but you will see the welsh influence with him, especially when he gets his Velcro gloves on!

Isn't that just a NS14 hull?

The very first statements on ICON (posted just earlier today note ) clearly stated that it was and would be based on a contemporary NS14 hull (but the design would be fixed)  However while the rig would still over-rotate the rig would be different ...   do we need to copy it again .... already !

There is little point in reinventing wheels .... most end up round.  The key innovations today are in foils and rig.  And unsurprisingly we are not showing ... yet.
