Yeah, looks very good. I think it is the kind of design many of us have been waiting for. A singlehanded B14. The RS100 looks like a great boat, but there are many who were hoping it would be higher performance like you're XC seems to be. I think if this boat goes into production, you could have a hit. There is still a gap in the market for this. Well done.

Where does the kite launch from? Is it the dark splodge on the foredeck nearish the bow?

The kite comes out from a hoop under the forestay, and goes back into a sock in the cockpit. Having a wave piercing bow and a big chute hole at the front don't really go together. you can see the hoop here, and the bag starts at the foredeck edge. ![]() |

Let me be specific: It's not a question of my approval. Andy can do anything he wants with his boats. We fight wars and stuff to maintain these freedoms. That isn't to say that I am not saddened to see him break ranks and go in a different direction. I don't have many allies in the War on Mediocrity, so I value the ones I have. I was very pleased that Andy had shown some leadership with the new canoe rules. Further I thought it was a good sign for renewed class growth that a shop with Bloodaxe's reputation was associated with the new direction. Something that I hoped was gaining momentum has been slowed and convincing the foot draggers and nay sayers will be more difficult as a result. Finally I would be a liar if I said I felt good about him turning the Tin Tear Drop into something so boring and conformist. So there. SHC |

I've been assuming that the hull didn't quite work as an International Canoe, and so has been given a new lease of life as a (hardly boring) play boat. I've followed the DC thing with much interest, and I hope that it isn't going to be dragged down by apathy. I, like many others, sail slow boats on a small pond, but far prefer reading about fantastic creations by people such as you and Andy. |
