I know some of your are very knowledgeable when it comes to all things dinghy and would love it if you could help me out. Basically as I just mentioned I am working on compiling the most up to date list of PY numbers I can find for as many classes as I can. I know some of you could put statto to shame so please could you cast an eye down the list and let me know of any classes that may be sailed at your clubs that I could have missed. If there are any please let me know with name of class, PY, number of crew, rig type and spinnaker type if possible.

Thanks for your help in advance. Heres the list:

You might want to add Topper 4.2, for which we use 1320, based on "something someone read somewhere on t'internet!"

Thanks guys, Asterix, i've tried to keep the list using published PY numbers, and not modified club numbers where possible. I used the following sources in this order, 1) RYA (back records found on internet where possible with 2009 being most important working backwards), 2) Manufacturers (LDC for example helped with info for all of the Q'ba/feva variants), 3) Class associations (e.g. Solution where the class is too new for any number to be produced), 4) Web based resources as a last resort such as the noble database you guys mentioned earlier.

I have found the 11 Plus at 115 in the old style PY.  Can this be converted to the new style?  I'd also be interested to know what the Bonito converts to: it had a PY of 106.

I think there's a recognised separate PY for a classic Phantom, but I'm not sure what it is.

Still no sign of a West Eleven.

the same, but different...

Weren't the existing PYs more or less multiplied by ten, then fiddled a bit, when the change was made?

Yep, suppose that would be a good place to start Al. The PY number is a ratio, hence it should work out the same, whether the race is 100 minutes long, or 1000 seconds long shouldnt it, or have I got that wrong?

No, not quite. There are in fact two lots of old numbers. In 1977 the average change was x1.2 and in 1996 it was x9.46. The Plus works out at 1303 in modern numbers. If the Bonito was 106 pre '77 that would be 1193. The West 11 is probably much the same speed as a Mirror - it was slower then the Plus for sure. I have a vague memory that the standard rig Harrier was the same as a Laser.
