Mags is correct !

Usually nail varnish remover will contain things like lanolin - or other fatty compounds - otherwise you will de-grease your skin as well as removing the varnish.

We used to make up a couple of litres in the lab on Friday afternoon. - One winchester quart of acetone, lump of lanolin, dash of methyl ethyl ketone...

My colleage reckoned that girls would do almost anything for a 500ml bottle of nail varnish remover. At least, that's what he said

One thing that I discovered was that uncured epoxy will prevent gelcoat (polyester resin) from ever hardening. Acetone worked for me...

I did wonder about nail polish remover but I decided not to risk it as, like others have said, there is other stuff in there too. The Blue Gee acetone arrived this morning so I'll give it a whirl when I get back home. The boat is once more in the living room to avoid the chance of rain stopping play again.

I wish I could get away with that!

Nail polish remover is cellulose thinners, isn't it?

I've always had better results with genuine epoxy cleaners than acetone. West make one which Robbins Timber, amongst others, sells.
