I think an SB3 would be a better bet, long term.
It is yet to get any numbers in terra scotia but it is bound to get some momentum. It's pretty windy up your way ? (lived a summer in snechy) Suit an assymetric well. Hope the schplatu stays in scotland, and good luck selling it. Did you try the 4 berth DIY 'upgrade'? If I was still living there I'd have been a potential buyer! |

We have a small fleet of Sonata's from the local clubs but all the rest is a mixed handicap fleet. Will have a long think about it when the Platu sells? Corms |

Two less crew, fits in any garden, pretty shallow draft....
Slower than a schplatu but more manageable for crew list and running costs. Is there not some OD keel boats (ie day boats) already up in the north though? OD wins over actual performance any day. |

Understood. Both those boats are good I think so go for it! One of the upsides of the Elite seems to be that it is competitive under most handicap systems - it's got a very even performance profile - ie goes well against other boats across the wind range, rather than great at one end of the range and bad at the other. Hi Martin Thanks for the reply, the main problem is I am based in the North of Scotland, so a long way away. I spoke to Lynette about the Elite. I have enquired about "Tuppence" and "Bachanalia" which are both for sale, as per normal the budget is tight, so looking at the slightly older boats. Corms

Glad you've heard good reports about the RS Elite Corms! One of the key elements of the design brief was three crew (in fact you can race with 2) because so many people find it a hassle getting bigger teams together. We'd be happy to organise a trial sail in an Elite - and let me know if you'd like to speak to some other Elite owners direct for their feedback. Where are you based? The Elite UK Nationals on Belfast Lough run from this Thursday to Sunday - hop on a plane?! You can bet pension that the hospitality alone would make it worthwhile...

Looking at selling the Platu 25 and looking around at other yachts. I like the sound of the elite as we are stuggling to get 5 to crew for the Platu 25. The people I have spoken to have had nothing but praise for the Elite. Any feed back gratefully received.
