Laser fun ?

I don't know about Laser 1 (prob not), but because the original equipment on Laser 3000s included the same rudder as the Laser 2, this should answer your question:

Obviously the best result would be to find a laser 2 etc rudder. However, if you just need to get on the water, a rudder from almost any similar boat, (fireball, scorpion, national 12 etc etc ) would work, and the rudder stock may be easily adjusted, or a new one made.

A Fireball blade is likely to be better than your original L2 blade (too small in some circs!), so just try it as you'll probably like it!  As for the tiller, a lot of racers used to use Laser 1 tillers, which were shorter than the original L2's.  Personally, having tried both I preferred the longer version, but again, my suggestion is to try what you have, and if you decide it's too long cut it down in small increments - it's much harder to make it longer again!  Actually, I'd just try moving the tiller extension attachment point on the tiller first - it's good to have the free end of the tiller poking forward of the extension attachment point to stick between your legs while steering with them during hoists, drops and gybes.

My Laser 2 tiller is 47.5" long overall (including piece that fits in the stock)

My tiller extension is 36" 

In the light stuff  you need to go a long way forward, so a long tiller extension better.

Next Issue. I have a laser 2 “fun” with a furling jib. Be stripping it all and cleaning it all ready to get out on the water but the jib will not come down without bringing the mast down and removing it. The halyard has a ropebtied to the end with a splice and that would not fit through the sheave. Removed that and re-attaches a new rope smaller rope with a new split as tight as I could and once again, doesn’t fit through the sheave 🤦‍♂️😩 any suggestions for an easy fix?
