Bit of a bvroad question depends who is sailing them, i would think that a 29er is quicker round the course then an older cherub.

Well, Flat Stanley is no ordinary old cherub. The older ones go faster in the light stuff that the new ones, apparently. At Brightlingsea this weekend, I was enjoying the fact that I was creeping up on the B14's a and a 29er after there start. Say what you will, but I was with them until I got bored and sailed off downwind. It was a about a force 1-2.

yes we all know flat stanley was a fast boat when she was built and revolutionary design for cherubs similar to dave roes' bistro norwegian blue.

but simple facts remain 12ft of waterline length aint quick when its light upwind

Thats why you need a bigger rig

-12ft skiff, Team 'CST Composites'
-Many thanks goes out to all of my sponsors.
Ignore my user name, my views are of a 12ft skiff

I think theres only a small amount of truth in this waterline length thing. I base that on nothing, but I'm still only taking it with a pinch of salt.

Your wrong then

I dont realy have the ablity to prove it on the forum but look at any basic text on boat design and you'll find one. There is a good one published by fenhust that is about right for someone with A-level physics.

Ross mate in light winds waterline length is a big factor in how fast you go  Today in the 14, force 1-3, we had some crazy pace and we ended up being first on the water by a long way  The only thing longer than us was a wayfarer, wildfire and an ic but they beat us on handicap . Oh and there was a kestrel but it wasn't sailed well so we beat that.
