Yes they are. It was also a training day as well as a Regatta which makes it doubly stupid that someone in a high powered speed boat comes hurtling through a sail training area don't you think?

Haha, I have sussed the problem of getting a picture onto the Forum. I use
an Apple Mac with Safari. I have now changed to Firefox and the image appeared straight away. Has anyone else had problems using Macs and Safari?? |

We have a 4 knot limit where we sai; But they ignore it and cirle us, laughing if we try and protest!! They seem to enjoy aiming for the junior fleet in particular!! Its just makes me so angry! A friend of mine went up to them after the race to explain to them what the problem was, and they just lamped him!!! YARGH!!!

There are some right numptys in power boats and on jet skis and it would be nice if they had more clue about what sailing boats are likely to do. But the ones that really wind me up are big boat sailors who assume they always have right of way. We had 2 great exapmles of this last year (both Solent ares). Beating out of Lymington river we spotted a yacht motoring in. Most of the yachts and power boats we had met the day before had been really good and would slow down for us or give us space if we needed to tack. This guy didnt bother to slow down and just forced us out of his way. Even better was the yacht who seemed to be trying to moor in the middle of our start line in the middle of a race. I know its the irisponsable minority but what is worse, idiot power boaters or idiot yachters? Edited by Offshoretiger |

they probably are and they are probably being slated by the majority of well behaved, knowledgeable power boat drivers. the best one ive seen for motor boats being stupid was a 30-40 foot gin palace coming out of northney marina during the chichester feva open. he ploughed straight through the fleet that had just started after driving right past our windward mark shouting something along the lines of "totaly irresponsible behaviour". |
