I cannot work out how the toestraps and hiking works on those folding winglets. And I have enough trouble getting out on the other side in a windy tack without having to fold a wing in and launch another outwards, so you are obviously far ahead of me.

Toe straps in much the same place. Just think of it as a wide sidedeck.
They're left folded out while sailing. ![]() Edited by JimC - 02 Jun 16 at 1:07pm |

Is the plan to have them on tracks, sliding fore and aft?

Hi Jim
You could set the control lines behind the mast like the Phantom with the Adj forestay, Lowers etc taken forward a bit like your drawing. Then have just the tails taken back for you to play with. Are you planing a assymetric spinnaker like a canoe? Cheers Gordon |

Canoe in fact. Taifun. Its a German class. There are broadly similar canoe classes in Sweden. |

Proper pivoting centreboard, please!!!
And how about a self-tacking jib? |

I don't get the issue. Surely your control line layout could be like most OKs running above the deck. Also with the depth of structure in the bow, why have shrouds?

My thought is the crew deck/foredeck coming to about a foot aft of the back of the daggerboard so you sit on it in light airs and have no transition between sitting in middle of boat and sitting on side.
Its an interesting thought though: if the bow tank is going to be slow flooding/self draining then control lines can run in there because there's no concern about water ingress. Access for maintenance would need careful thought! I don't much like unstayed masts. Weight/stability penalty. |
