Would you trust someone in a tracksuit and baseball cap to make something that you're going to fly on?!

So much negatively about Lasers. The disign is rubbish, awlful rudder, bad hull shape, terriable sails, knacker your knees and so on. But you would not think it would be the most popular classes out there. So when someone tries to bring it up to date give them credit for embrassing new technologies and ideas. And who says they will stop at the foils, maybe a foiling rig to complement the new ideas.
I think is this a great idea for all the Laser sailors out there and if successful will draw others to the class. This is without doubt one of the biggest developments in dinghy sailing, even if just in terms of number of how many boats there are out there, since the V-Twin.

Well I dunno, I wouldn't want one because for my level of agility anything less than 5metres long without a trapeze is far too much like hard work.
BUT. It seems a far more relevant subject for a forum titled dinghy development that whining on for ever and a day about PY bandits or how many layers of different sailcloth constitute a tape drive sail or whatever.

At last an attempt at a decent rudder on a laser. Who cares about foiling. Even without the wings it would be an improvement

I always thought that anything will foil but the heavier the boat the bigger the foils so more drag. Also lasers (and that was a radial by the way) have floppy draggy rigs which would limit speed. The boat in the video never sailed anywhere near the wind or tacked or gybed. No doubt a oil drum would foil downwind if it was towed up to speed. Good fun though if useless.
