The second picture is much better. Lines look pretty enough, but its looks like it could be a bit heavy lump of plastic. 

I guess this slots into the sailing holiday niche that the Dart 16 currently fills. Ok for a quick play when you are on holiday, but wouldn't want to spend much more time in one......sorry to any Dart 16 owners!

What an uninspired name...
Also a fairly pointless photo, but is that the main halyard cleating off at the bottom. Unusual for a cat if so.
I quite like the lines, almost Hyundai 'fluidic sculpture' inspired - I wonder what the selling point above the Topaz cats is?

Very simple I suspect. Same as the Venture. The sailing schools buy all their boats from RS but then buy wayfarers from hartley. So RS responded so they could buy all their boats from one place. Now the beach holiday lot can do the same with their cats. Simple!

there's so much fun to be had with google and a misplaced letter or two.... especially if you take the stock joke 'Kiss my RS' into the mix.   Confused

FWIW- it's nice to see them stepping into a new direction with a beach cat.  I know I've had fun on them on holiday and if this was on the beach somewhere sunny and hot I'd happily put down Game of Thrones and my Caipirinha and go for a blast.... being an RS boat I'd like to try it more than a Hobie for sure.

The construction method looks interesting- could this be a lightweight poly boat that we don't/can't knock with the usual aplomb?

I know it's wrong but I'm sort with GRF on this one, yep I am a CAT Bigot.

Well not so much a CAT bigot as a "what some CATs say bigot" look at me you can go really fast without falling over.

Only trouble is, you can't turn round and when you bear away to miss someone you just go faster and hit 'em harder, oh yes and when you do fall over it will be from a height and it'll take a week n a half to sort it out. 

Dinghies just seem so much better at being self limiting regarding the trouble you can get into. Slow ones give people time to get out of the way and fast ones fall over before you get completely out of sight.
