Had a fun flurry of phone calls and emails yesterday morning trying to figure out whether or not to cancel the Rutland B14/49er/Musto event. Looks like we made very much the right call.

So I went on a slow several hour bike ride (infrastructure tour with other cycle campaigners. Few beards to be seen. No sandals) round Cambridge instead.

instructors play-day wasn't cancelled, however there were only three of us turned up, and strangly enough I was the only one in shorts.

Sailing was awesome today at Datchet out in the Musto. 3hrs great conditions,
Not as cold as feared!

Blooming freezing at the phantom open at wimbleball today but good wind. Even colder for the beastie tomorrow apparently but windier, will have to see how people decide with their feet I expect

Great Laser race today, 11 boats out, shame the open we had intended on going to was cancelled, could of been a great days sailing.

All those who turned up today experienced all their ropes slowly becoming stiff as the water in them froze, then when we came ashore the flogging sails shook off a shower of ice onto anyone standing in the way, but it was still a decent days sailing with plenty of wind.

We had the second of our pre season work parties and despite rain and very cold lots of enthusiam and good numbers we then adjurned to the main club to get the club ready for fitting out supper.
Guest speaker Josh Hall was really good and we had a sell out.
Amazed despite the weather it seems people are really keen for new sailing season to begin.
Saturday first race lets hope the weather is a lot warmer.

we had about ten boats racing in the morning, four in the afternoon.  All the lines in the safety boat I was driving kept freezing up.

any truth in the rumour that a Polar bear family were seen trying to hitch a lift to get away from Grafham because it was too cold?..... it was absolutely freezing on the south coast, I dread to think what it was like in the coldest place on earth...
