How can the new rule proposal completely ignore the smaller 7.4m2 sail?

Are they considered just a  training rig?

So is the 7.4 not a racing sail, is it just for training and cruising?

no, you can race with it.  It doesn't currently carry a recognised Portsmouth Yardstick, so you will need to get your club to set one for you.  You can also enter the 7.4 RS100 Nationals.... just don't be surprised that the invite for the Endeavour doesn't drop through your door once you've won it.

You can race with it as a handicap boat.

It is not included in the current approved rules so you officially cannot race it at a RS class run event. The rules currently say the RS100 can be sailed with a 8.4 or 10.2 sq m sail.

Now whether someone turns a blind eye at an event and lets you sail is another matter.

Hence why someone asked earlier if this was an omission in the rule change. Which it has either been forgotten or deliberately left off to avoid splitting the fleet even further.

So you can buy an RS100 that is not permitted to race at an open, seriously?
