Now the only question is whether the water will just be used by pottering elderly people or whether more will be made of it than that.

Should be plenty of local business for a good sailing club then Wink

I suspect a lot of the negative comments on here are because people are adverse to change away from a traditional club structure. The water is still there to be sailed on, and its a beautiful facility.< ="cosymantecnisbfw" co="cs" id="SILOBFWID" style="width: 0px; height: 0px; display: block;">

quite - ignore the bile and nonsense.  The water is there, it's up to people to choose for themselves whether they want to utilise it or not.

Thank you for sharing that the it's out there and available, and for what appears on the face of it to be quite good value.  Especially as it seems free from the added hassles usually associated with sailing clubs and their antiquated view on leisure time.

Like properly organised racing?

OK, not everyone wants to do that, I know, but I'd think the large majority who use these boards do.

True, but the vast majority may well be in the minority compared to the rest of their club membership

Sounds all right to me. Nice comfy bungalows for us old people to sit about farting. Werthers on tap and something fat and safe to float about in.....What is the problem?

Speaking of 'fat and safe' it is our B**te open this weekend...the antithesis of fat.

Looks like there are plans afoot to start a new club after all. Good luck to them.

So who is Martin Brooking?

On the face of it, BWL have blown a hole in their revenues, thru making the extant organisation non-viable due to the inflated rent charged, albeit from some years ago, and now want to create 'son of BVSC' with fees split across two organisations. Why would anyone pay the water use fees to the owner direct when economies of scale can be achieved by the 'club' collecting from 'members' and passing on a lump sum? This is what happens with harbour dues. What's the difference?

The cynic in me is seeking the catch or hidden agenda...

There seems to be a parallel here with a major motor manufacturer who some years ago allegedly forced their biggest dealer in the county into insolvency by withdrawing financial backing and then taking direct control themselves.
