At 85kg I can probably answer much of this.  First off you will of sailed the boat James has borrowed.  The control lines should be the perfect length, but as it is a demo boat and knowing James I suspect it's not had any time spent on it.  So it obviously needs some love.  It also depends how James has set the mast up in terms of rake mast foot position etc.  The mast and sail were developed by people like Charlie Cumbley, Dan Holman and a number of finn experts.  So I'm going to disagree with you Ian.  It takes some understanding to set up correctly.  The sail is naturally cut very full so taking time to understand how the rig works is critical in making it work.  At 88kg you are 3kg heavier than me and my best results are in light wind, so you are not too heavy by any stretch.

Irony chum the zero has no centreboard I was making a point about rumours and digs that industry 'tools' can often do, in a the case of a spoil war between brands, to try and encourage some cessation in the war on Aero.

Hi Iain,
Glad you had a good yacht. Where were you?
The mast is pretty stiff by most unstayed standards. I take it you had breeze today?!
It likes cunno - shouldn't bottom out unless its been rigged wrong on the primary. Same for vang which you don't have to use as agressively as say on a laser.
Sheet should be easy to block to block even with tight trav and max upright rake - them 40mm blocks!
Sail looks pretty fair and undistorted until well over 20kts when most things crease up a bit.
88kg should be great.
Dan

I've not read any of this mahoosive thread, but had a go in one of these today.

Very nicely finished and fit out, light and responsive, however I couldn't help but think it desperately needed about another 3 layers of carbon on the mast, less roach, or some standing rigging. Pulling on controls just seemed to pull the mast into all kinds of funny shapes and it seemed very easy to go block to block on everything.

What was I doing wrong or is 88kg pushing the weight range a bit?

Nice little boat apart from that though!

No because i think Rodney would have the necessary cells to check something before it was released on all social media platforms!  Live by the sword die by the sword.  You promote by these avenues when it goes wrong expect to be called out.

One thing is for sure there was a video posted and then taken down.  Not just speculation by someone to make a point!

now come on tell the truth, we all know it goes back to Luca, his henchmen threatening to break your legs if you squeal, and a sizeable backhander to someone at ISAF who is busy constructing an elaborate legal battle in Connecticut to chuck the Laser out in time for the 2020 Games.....
