Thank you for your concern my dear BNS.

However there have been no new problems posted, maybe I have already solved all of the problems of the sailing community. But I doubt it!

The problem is that most sailors are a bit shy when it comes to admitting they have a problem.  I have been surprised by the lack of 'friends' problems that have been on this thread.

Has the agony uncle job proved too much for me? Far from it. On a daily basis I point out various problems that some of the guys on site have (but maybe have not been aware of ) and offer them my advice. They are so impressed that they have been heard to say " 'ere comes that chippy, have you heard 'im f$%^£& unbelievable some of the things he comes out with, £^!$^&* unbelievable"

So there you have it, proof that many cannot believe that I have so much advice to offer, even when they were not aware that they needed it. They are obviously impressed.  It is a rare talent that I share with the forum.

I have had therapy in the past, but the various shrinks all ended up on medication, so the therapy came to a natural end.  The so called experts did not know that they had so many problems.

Is there anything the forum members can do? Well yes there is, give me your, or your 'friends' problems, and let me help.  Not sure what will happen next week? Don't trust the stars in the daily rag, not a problem. Just ask Dave.

your not going to get a new boat easily then, nearly everybody on this forum has to work hard to afford their boats, even us students!

learn to luurrrve your old tub and all of her special little quirks.

There is a lot to be said for an old boat, you can always blame it for a poor performance.  If you get a new one you can only blame your performance on getting used to it for so long, then you have no excuses left.

You can get more water at the mark in an old boat, put plenty of gaffer tape round the edges.  This give the impression that you are a bit of a barger.

Oh and put a thick layer of margarine over the hull, it will make it go fast, Honest.

Then don't do so much during the week.

Earlier in this thread I gave Phil some advice regarding the lottery.  I believe it could still apply.

Dear Dave,

I have a friend who has a problem - well several actually - but the main one is the fact that he no longer has a boat.  But he has a good friend who has a boat and is unable to use it to race on many occasions since he has to baby sit whilst his wife gets to race her topper.

Would it be acceptable for my friend to demand the loan of his friends boat whilst he is unable to sail due to baby sitting duties?  Should he point out that whilst the boat may be his pride and joy he will get a sense of enormous well being for helping out a mate in desperate circumstances??
